Better Safe Than Sorry! (Part 1)

Backup· Computer Basics· DIY Photo Organizing· Tech Tips· Tips and Tools

Ugh! That sinking feeling you get when you look for something on your computer … a photo or a document … and it’s gone.

You know it was there. Or all you can find is the old version before you edited it. Or maybe you can’t even get to your files because your hard drive (internal or external) crashed.

Unfortunately, situations like this are all too common. Technology glitches occur. Stuff happens. It’s frustrating and inconvenient at best. Just think how devastating it would be to lose precious photos that aren’t saved anywhere else.

It doesn’t have to be this way!

A simple solution is available that can help you sleep easier knowing your precious photos (and everything else on your computer) are safe.

Backblaze personal backup to the rescue!

Note: Some of the links below are affiliate links, which means I receive a small commission if you click on a link and make a purchase. There is no additional cost to you. I only recommend products and services that I have tried myself and found to be helpful.

Backblaze backs up your entire computer (not just photos), including any external hard drives that are plugged in. It’s brilliant. I’ve used it for years, and it has protected me from losing a single file or photo. It’s a small investment in my sanity that brings incredible peace of mind.

The simplicity of Backblaze is one of the reasons it’s so effective. Simply sign up, create an account, and start a free trial. It starts backing up your computer immediately. You don’t need to do anything, and it runs silently in the background, whether you’re working, sleeping, or watching Netflix. At the end of the trial, enter your credit card information to continue the protection it offers. Easy peasy.

Unlike some other services that charge for how much storage you use, Backblaze personal backup is unlimited. That means you can back up as much data as you like that is stored on or connected to your computer.

My main computer currently has five external hard drives plugged into it (using this handy USB hub), and all of it automatically backs up to Backblaze … nearly 11 terabytes of data! I have backups of my backups so nothing slips through the cracks.

Restoring files is free and easy!

You can easily restore individual files from the Backblaze online portal, or you can request a USB drive for larger quantities of data. Best of all, the restore is free if you return the USB thumb drive or external hard drive they ship to you! It’s a quick and painless process.

Oh, and if you need help or have questions, they have awesome tech support (live humans) to assist you.

Sign up today to start the free trial and breathe a sigh of relief. It takes just a few minutes, and you’ll be so happy you did it.

In a future post I’ll share how I tweak my Backblaze settings for optimal performance and verify my backups.
